This is also one of the coolest air racing shots I have ever seen!

I find my self staring at it longer and studying it more than most shots as it just screams excitement.

If a shot like this doesn't get your mojo working, you'd better see a doctor. . .

That was 2006. And the motor didn't go south...the radiator coolant tank split during the form-up for the Championship Race, so he declared a Mayday and returned to the field with a DNS.

Brad, I'll have to dig for the photo, but, I think it was Monday after the event, or just later that day, Jimmy grabbed me and dragged me up on the ladder to see what it was.. I don't remember it as a coolant tank, I think it was a "cast fitting" not unlike the thermostat housing on car engines.. Up topside, at the front... oh crap... or was it the back of the engine...

Gotta dig out the pic, but pretty sure it wasn't a "tank"...

Amazing shot. Gives you a great feel for just how big a Sea Fury really is, too.
