Hmmmm......I don't ever recall Deadnot winning with two people in it. Neil won in '83, and Rick won in '86....and unless there was a frog in their pockets or something, they were by themselves.

        Coolest...

Wow, the coolest racer. There are so many that come to mind.

I always loved Miss A, Rare Bear, White Lightning, Conquest 1...you know...the classics.

As for coolest. I have to go a little outside the box here.

        Unlimited:

        1. Miss Foxy Lady (Loved her in black, even more so in white)

        2. Tipsy Miss (Something about the clipped wings and the 4 bladed prop)

        3. Miss Merced (With the small canopy Centaurus motor and 5 blade prop)

        4. Crazy Horse

        5. Baby Gorilla (Cause Lloyd and his team were the coolest!)

        T-6:

        1. The Exorcist (I got to ride around the Mojave pylons with Don)

        2. Miss Everything (I got to ride around the Mojave pylons with Ralph)

        3. Miss Chief

        4. Warlock

        5. Gotcha (Both of them)

        Others:

        1. Sundancer

        2. Top Turkey

        3. All the pushers...

On the serious side, I am amazed that I have yet to see a vote for "Super Snoopy". How could anyone NOT consider that amongst their favorites?

And of course, on the sarcastic side...how come no votes for John Parker's Cessna 421 "Rolling Hills Aviation", or Leo Volkmeirs TBF Avenger?

Or how about 'best racer that never showed up'? The Whittington's Miss Florida II, anyone?

Or best "phantom racer"......Alan Preston's Hells Belle...or even his Zero?

Or "Puss 'n Boots" the A-26 that beat Guilfords Corsair in 1985 with the bombay doors open....

            Always liked the bombers.

              Hummn....

I've been sort of quiet this week, (been sicker than a dogger)... but have been keeping a very swollen set of eyes on this thread.. interesting question......

It would be VERY hard to pick an absolute favorite.. so I'll cop out and throw in a few, as some others have..

              Not necessaily in this order..

              1. Miss Ashley II simply because the build was so beautiful and the potential so great And it was "out of the box" thinking, which I think carries high points.

              2. Rare Bear, for all the obvious reasons, especially with that big awesome "Three Paddle" prop..

              3. Czech Mate, because it's the coolest Yak out there and really looks the part of a racer.. (don't matter how fast you go, as long as you look cool!)

              4. Critical Mass, for the same reasons as above only it's the coolest Sea Fury out there...

              5. Furias, cause it's got all them spark plugs!

              6. All the clipped canopy P-51's... they all win huge "Cool" points in my book...

Ok Ok.. six is enough I guess... wait Lefty's P-38 has to get "honarable mention, Red Baron FOR SURE.. very nice..

I default... Forget the above. I can't choose... ALL OF THEM!!!!

From Sparky to Dago Red and every one of them between. !!!!

That's not fair though.....because I think the buzzards on the course were flying faster than Guilford's Corsair that year.

Come to think of it, I don't think I ever saw Blue Max "race". I saw it fly around the course a couple hundred times....but "racing" was not in the vocabulary to describe speed in that combination. :-)

It was a beautiful plane, though. Shame about the accident.

I'm glad some people like me!!!

Truthfully, when you think of the effort involved with getting even a stocker there, and how it makes you feel when you see some really clean stockers mixing it up.. (sort of lets you step into the wayback machine for a few laps) how can an absolute favorite be chosen???

I get just as big a thrill when Sparky "doesn't finish last" as I do when someone I'm pulling for makes it across first..

That truly is what racing is about.. Even the guy who is in last place is battling as hard as everyone in front of him/her.. When I had a "Porsche" (hey, it was one of them "poor man's Porches" ) I took it on the track at PIR for several sessions with the "P" club.. I certainly was not the fastest car out there (not by a long stretch) but it SURE FELT GOOD when I'd gain on a faster car in the corners!... Last place, sure, but it felt REALLY good bein back there chasin..

For the record, "P" club track day events are, particularly for insurance purposes, "driver education" events, NOT competitive events... That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

Ya know, if Wayne takes half of us up on our beer and other offers, he'll be in a drunken stupor for the week.

Not that there's anything wrong with that....
