To me, the jets don't count. I'd love to see them go away for good. Nothing against any of the pilots or owners mind you, I just think it's a bad idea to be racing them there.
The only problem I have with the jets is lack of noise. When I see them flying I want to feel them as much as see them. The unlimiteds do that for me. I would also like to see them pitted with the rest of the planes, not stashed away in the hinterlands. Some of the paint jobs on the jets are 1000% bitchen. Unless you know where they are people will never see
them.
agree with race 5..... this thread seems like ground hogs day........
It is!!! but its a fun topic! Gives the people a chance to show their passion for the planes they love the most. Once PRS gets here there will be more stuff to talk about I am sure, till then not to much about air racing going on.
Mr. Laidlaw ran a race at Mojave in a Sabre 6 at 636 mph. 15 mile lap, G suits, three up, second was Leroy Penhall, third was Gary Levitz.
T-33's flown by the same pilots were in the mid 500's, but don't remember because, why bother, they were trainers.
Chris...
Is that the race where several of the T-33 came back with bent structures, inspection covers blown off etc? I remember that happening somewhere but can't remember which event.
