My prayers go out to Howard and his family he will be greatly missed, I never got to see Howard perform at airshows, but I got to see him race many times, I will miss seeing him and his Bearcat with the stuffed gorilla at the controls in the pits, and of course his signature steep climb pull out that he would do at the end of each race to exit the course, while most pilots would gradually pull out and exit the course Howard would always damn near pull straight up, sounds silly but I always got a kick out of that.
Many years ago Howard got me my first warbird ride in the B-25 Silver Lady. I then saw him again several years later at the Denver Air Races. He remembered me and we had a chance for quick talk. It was an honor and pleasure to have known him. God speed Howard, and thanks again for the B-25 ride.
