Re: Help needed for Reno accident Survivors Larry and Tracy Cruz

As of this morning, the Thursday, 11/18, the work party at the Cruz home is still on for Saturday, in spite of the weather forecast.

I'm going to give Tracy a call later today and confirm. With the prediction being 30% chance of rain, we figure that means showers.

So, assuming we don't end up with a deluge or a blizzard, I hope to see you on Saturday. I'll be getting hold of everyone this evening (I'm working until 8:00pm) with the address and time to be there.

    Thanks again!

Yes, we're still on for this Saturday. I'm leaving Reno tomorrow morning at 7:00am to head up that way.

Wayne, I'm sending you a PM with the address. Anybody else that decides to join in, contact Wayne.

We're going to be cutting and splitting a lot of wood, so if you have a chain saw, please bring it.

See everyone in Graham. Oh and you'll be pleased to know I'm bringing Tracy and Larry a check for over $4500.

        Wow, had a GREAT time!!

Larry Jorgensen, Jordan Singer, Pete and Tyler Hauge, Scott Adams and JC, and Dave Forrest, you're all wonderful! Thanks to Larry for providing so much energy and guidance, and to Scott for feeding the crew!

Larry and Jordan ran the "cut it down and saw it into the rounds" team, splitting the rounds as they went, while the rest of us moved, loaded, unloaded and stacked the wood. Blackberry bushes (that's and understatement actually, more like a blackberry thorn forest!!) cut down, and hauled off to the burn pile, and lots more cleanup around the property.

I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly slept well Saturday night. lol

I don't know when I've had so much fun. Anyone who wasn't there just plain missed out!

I'll get pictures posted, but I just walked in the door. lol

Larry and Tracy are great people, and I'm so pleased to have been able to meet them. After we got done with the work, Tracy took me down to meet Cheri McMichael, who lost her husband, Jim. She's phenomenal. I don't know when I've seen as much sheer courage and heart as these folks have.

Again, thanks to everyone that came out.

Almost forgot. Larry Jorgensen mentioned cleaning out the rain gutters on the house, and then it got lost in the shuffle. (My fault.)

Both the Cruz home and Cheri McMichael's house need the rain gutters cleared. If anyone can pop down there in the next couple of weeks and get that done, that would be terrific.

Other than that, I think we're good for the winter.

What about the work on the Cruz house re-model?
Has it been completed or more work party effort ahead?

The work is almost complete. The work on the bathroom is not quite done, but Tracy's brother is getting that done. When we were there he was just finishing up the grouting and had to wait for that to dry before painting, etc.

The only left after that is putting the shower doors on, but they haven't been purchased and won't need to be until Larry is out of the wheelchair.

Tracy and I talked and other than the rain gutters, it looks like most everything else will hold until Spring, at which point we'll re-evaluate and I'll probably be making another trip to Graham. lol

I submitted a $2500 grant request to Home Depot today, so the work on Larry's home can be completed. Keep your fingers crossed!

Just heard from Home Depot. They've given us a grant for $4000!!!

Whatever isn't used completing the work on Larry's home goes in the Family Assistance Fund for other projects!

                    Here's to Home Depot!

Many airplanes have bits and pieces from Hom Depot Aviation Division buried here and there.. Good they get some credit, indirectly, from their previous contributions to the motorsport end of things...

I am a longtime employee/shareholder of The Home Depot and I am very glad to see the company pitch in to help. Say what you want about The Depot, but they have a long history of being generous to those in need. The usually do so under the radar without publicity. Now if we can just get them to sponsor an Unlimited Team!
