Victor's memorial piece, front page of the Sparks Tribune.

And the article that goes with it.

Biker gang killing doesn't stop Air Races memorial

Washington Post - Hundreds mourn air race victims at Nev. memorial

Reuters - Nevada air race crash victims mourned in Reno

MSNBC - Reno air crash memorial: 'a lot of people feeling just numb'

These articles are echoed by papers all across the world.

Re: Memorial in Reno on Sunday

KOLO TV has a segment up on their site (at least they did earlier). The reporter was extremely positive in her reporting and quoted Sandra (yay you!) heavily. Felt it really struck the balance between grief and resolve.

The Associated Press and Reuters took off with the story. It's made its way to the Washington Post in D.C.

If the Washington Post doesn't work, the same commentary is on YouTube. Type Air Race Memorial and it'll pop up first on the list.

Agreed. I think we did our best to express our trust in and love for Jimmy, how devastating it is for our entire air race family to have members injured and killed, but how confident we are that this awful accident won't happen again and therefore isn't a reason for ending the races.

I had the opportunity to hug Brian Elvin. I told him that we are all here for him and his family, and we'll do everything we can for them.

Now I guess we wait and try to do some healing ourselves.

And thanks for the hugs, Ramjets, you helped me hold it all together yesterday.

Re: Memorial in Reno on Sunday

Just so everyone doesn't think we were all morose the entire time . . .

From the right, Susan and "Ramjets" Chester, Sandra "Pit Lizard" More, Craig "Split-S" Smith and his lovely wife, Shirley. How many did we hoist to Jimmy?...I can't say, but my arm was sore this morning! Didn't Victor's poster dress up really cool with the matting and frame? Good job, Sandra!!!!!

Oh, and hell ya' Girl, you rocked in that interview!!!!

Thanks for posting those pics, RJs. We are glad to have met you and Susan and Sandra and hope to see you again before too long.

I hope other Flightliners will make themselves available in the future as well. I'm more likely to be civil online if I meet you in person.

I went to the memorial as well. I took a few pictures, and I also made an audio recording. I'll post the pictures soon, and I'll check with Wayners about uploading the audio file for those that wish to hear it.

While there were less people than what I expected, it provided for a more private setting.

I was amazed to discover that Mike Alger can sing. For non-Renoites, he's Channel 2 News' weatherman.

That surprised me too, as well as seeing Reverend Gene, almost a year ago to the day of the memorial he married my friends.

I'm sure that I saw you setting up the easel with Victor's tribute, before things got started.

I should have some of the pictures posted at the end of the day.
