Actually, yes. At the 1971 United States Cup in San Diego at Brown Field, American Jet Industries and Omni Aviation Managers fielded two entries: Clay Lacy in the DC-7 Super Snoopy, and Herman "Fish" Salmon" in "Red Baron".

Neither one of them were allowed to race. But it was the only event that the Constellation showed up at.

I bought Sky High from a company in California many moons ago, and in the early scenes the narrator says we are to go to the four races (Cape May, Mojave, Reno, and San Diego) of the season. Unfortunately my tape only includes two, Cape May with the T-6 tragedy and Reno. Do anyone know of a supplier that can get me the full version? I'd love to have that. Even without those races Sky High is an amazing film about aviation. I think I need to grab my VHS tape out of storage and view it again.

Surely I'm not the only old around here that have read (or seen) about John Lear´s #76 who finished fifth in Reno 1968. I liked so much that all white racer that I made a scale model of it.

LOL...he did not finish 5th at Reno in 1968. He finished 5th in the CONSOLATION race in 1968 waaaaaaaay behind.

It was nothing more than a publicity stunt for Lear.
