If the RB was leading, must have been '76. Mac pulled out right after the start in '75. Candace won in '75....broke in '76, and never ran at Mojave again.

              Cool beans!!!

The buzz of what sounded to be a swarm of very angry bee's turned into the unmistakable sound of wound up merlins. They went over us at 50ft at full tilt. They were so close it rocked the RV. The Red Baron was leading the charge and continued to do so for the entire race. I'm now officially hooked. Got to go every year after that till......79(?) , which i believe was the year Miss Candace broke.

That RB shot would make a GREAT painting.

Or maybe we should give him a bottle of something and see what he says next.
I bet he'd settle for an engine that held together long enough to let him race on Thursday.....

Remind me to tell you the story that Griffonsrule told me a long time ago about sending the team's P.R. guy out to look for a 'metric crescent wrench'.

The sad part about it is.....he actually FOUND one at a Miami hardware store.

Not "sad" at all; diligent. Also, metric screwdrivers (there is a defference).

Yes. The difference is in the writing on the package.

Sort of reminds me when the whole Y2K scare was happening...the local appliance store took out a full-page ad offering that all of their washers, dryers, ovens, refrigerators, etc. were Y2K compliant.

Love the predawn stories from you all. Have been out at the fence(in my tent) for the last six years straight for then entire week. The piston powered alarm clocks are what i live for! Also got the new wife hooked her first year when Dago went by at 500 in 04.
                          what part of the Fence?

Like this? - minor Photoshop tweaks - took about five miutes. I could do better with a higher resolution digital image or If I scanned the original.
