Eric, what are your impressions of the structure of the Venture. Just using my crew sense, I would like to see a beefer attachment of the tail, (horizontal), considering the size of the surface.

I am here at SLO and have watched Mike carefully finish this plane with many changes to the original design including but not limited to "16 clipped from each wing, totally rebuilding the attatchment of the tail, .040 skin on the wings and horizontal, larger and longer horizontal spar, and all mods. that have come out along with his own to the gear system. I fly with Mike and can tell you his plane and new race motor that is dialed in will kick ass!

The only thing I see putting a damper on his intensions is of course an NXT, any NXT for that matter!

In your expert 'TOTALLY UNBIASED' opinion, right? :-)

Thanks Kevin, good to see some careful thought and preperation going into the airplane, I wish Mike the best of luck.
A few years back, I heard one of the Venture guys say "wow, that's the fastest I've ever had that thing",
IMHO 50' is a little low to be playing test pilot.

Remembering back a few years, (forgive me if this is already mentioned in this thread) weren't the Venture's banned from racing??

Honestly, I'd like to see a lot of things on every Sport Class airplane be a little beefier. I'd especially like to see counterweighted props and extraction systems mandated. David would not have suffered the governor failure with a counterweighted prop, and I believe Tommy was in the envelope of a successful extraction.

I would also like to see dive and flutter testing on all of the aircraft that are exceeding manufacturer's specifications.

On the Venture, I'd like to see a little more structure all the way around. According to Kevin, this has been addressed. On the pictures of Mike's the only thing that jumps out from them is a question of where the aileron balance went to.

Not the best pic, but, since it is the only one I took of the Questair it will have to do. Wings clipped

Mike Dacey wants to use your photo for the program this year. Is that ok>?
