    Re: Stiletto Questions.

it was 18 inches jarrod and that was one of the first mods made, the pilot basically was sitting where you would sit in a tf-51.

worthy of note is that precious metal's cockpit has been moved back the same distance.

        Re: Stiletto Questions.

I remember seeing a picture in a magazine of one of the Sherman girls sitting in the newly installed jumpseat.

I remember wondering how to spell claustrophobic.

Waaaaait a minute. If it's an "ugly contest", shouldn't Frank Taylor have won Stiletto instead of lost Dago? I mean...if I were going to be judged as the ugliest one, that would mean that I won the contest and won the airplane.

What happened here was that Taylor was not only ugliest, but he also lost the airplane in the process. Talk about kicked when you're down. Didn't even get a $million air racer as a consolation prize for being ugly.

Yet more proof that the world is run by "the beautiful people". Harumph.

This should be an easy one for the air race geeks or really any fan of the sport.
What was the unofficial nickname for stiletto?

I have some at home that I'll scan this weekend...including some close-up shots of the gear doors with the swiss cheese holes in them. I'll try to post them on Monday.

I didn't say WHICH Monday I would post them....

                            Sorry it took so long.

I also threw in a picture of Skip and Rick going at it during the Championship race on Sunday...shortly before Rick decided to break the case in half. Not the greatest shot, but....

                              It's a great shot.
(Especially cool is the nose of Ron Hevle's Howard 250 in it's D.U.Howard designed paint scheme. It now parades as some stars and bars thing.)
