BTW...since when did the History of the Shoestring book become a higher priority than "Brad & Randy's Kick-Ass Air Racing Encyclopedia: A two-volume set"?????

      I'm crushed.

If I remember correctly, that was the year Hoofers Mustang did some "chop-chop" work to a Chevy pick-up. Hoover was using Cotton Mouth. I believe this was the first year it was decided to use the T-33 Red Knight as the pace plane, it's (T-33) been used ever since.

"wingman" the cartoon is on the right side of the two doors. There is a small wall there. It's only been there for three years or so now. It was put there when we all were having a laugh with (and at) the Dago crew.
        Fun stuff.

That explains it -- I haven't been in the trailer since the late 90s. Odd to be deeply involved with a team for several years, and know everybody, and then a couple of years later have the same owner, pilot, and airplane and not know anybody else on the team.

It's interesting to be around a sport for a long time....

Wingman, believe me,... I can feel the history every time I step into the trailer. I get the same feeling when I'm close to the Bear. Lyle has to be
one of the longest lasting Owner/Pilots still attending the Air races. He has quite a history as with his BEAUTIFUL plane.
