Very nice video - thanks for sharing. But, I do have a question for all you p-38 buffs although after watching it start up at the beginning.

I understand the inherit safety benefit of having opposite rotating propellers like the installed on the lightening, but I would have thought they would have installed the clockwise rotation engine on the left wing and the anti-clockwise rotation engine on the right wing which would have shortened the arm (with respect to the centerline of the fuselage) of the downward moving propeller blade which produces more thrust than the upward moving blade because of the higher angle of attack in a climb attitude, or right after takeoff. It seems the me the machine would be easier to handle if one engine were to shut down during that critical time if the engine rotations were reversed I'm sure Mr. Johnson had a perfectly good reason for doing it this way - anybody know why?

I've read that it had to do with stability; this link from Wikipedia seems to agree:

It's interesting to note that the Germans did the same with a few of their aircraft of that era.

You do an excellent job of capturing the sound, and the aircraft in all it's glory. The shots on the tarmack are great, my wife is constantly yelling, Turn that down, how old are you! It never gets old.

Now that's hillarious. I have the same problem with my wife and daughter always saying "geez, ya think it's loud enough...?"

To which I reply, "nope!"

Jason, excellent work as always. Your time and efforts to capture high quality video with superb audio and then edit the compilations to share with us is greatly appreciated. What a symphony of rare & beautiful sounds to the ears.
