International Formula One

"Reno 1999 was a breakthrough year for Ray [Cote.] He recorded a qualifying speed of 250.219 mph -- the fastest for anyone other than Nemesis since Jim Bumford beat 250 back in 1991. In Thursday’s Heat 1A Ray defeated "Nemesis" for the first time since 1991. In this photo Ray is seen handily leading "Nemesis" and "Mariah" into pylon 1 early in that race."

This is but one quote from the 60+ image gallery/photo essay coming from Neal and Birgitta Nurmi. Covering the history action and drama of the International Formula One Class at Reno, Neal and Birgitta have produced a captivating look into the world of the "little guys" of Air Racing. Proving with their words and pictures that the Formula 1 racers are not little at all, they are giants of the sport, merely wrapped in a very small very fast package.
