Hughes H-1 Racer Replica

I recently saw a trailer for the new movie "The Aviator" and was wondering if that was Jim Wright's Hughes H-1 Racer Replica (before crash, obviously)being used in the flying scenes? or just some movie magic with models and computer fx.

The 'live' shots were actually shot utilizing a modified BT-13. The flying stuff is all CGI, though.

I love it. I can't wait to see it. The Hughes Story is the best. The H1- Racer a awesome machine. What a tragedy to lose a wonderful pilot and beautiful replica.

I hear you. I just loved that plane..It was awesome. The film would have been perfect had they had Mr.Wright flying the "real one" in the scenes.
