"Mixmaster"

Rumored to have been well into the process of being returned to stock configuration, the airplane formerly known as "Precious Metal" returned to Reno last month in full race trim, with new owner Ron Buccarelli at the helm.

To be completely honest, I was so overwhelmed with the sound of this airplane as it flew over my position at Home Pylon, I was almost unable to take the series of shots of Ron flying during this particular practice session.

Hearing her howl coming at me and growl going away brought back memories, at first somewhat hard to deal with, and then, I was overwhelmed with absolute joy to hear this sound and see that number over my head once again. I felt the presence of someone else when #38 flew overhead that day and for that I thank Ron Buccarelli, the Whittington brothers and Bill Rogers for bringing this number back. At least for me, this was a very healing day.
