This was Bruce Boland's greatest design (IMHO)! To me, it represented the future of Air Racing! She had so much potential if she was allowed to be a pure thoroughbred...
Skip knew just how to make her walk!

Thank you, John H, for starting this thread in memoriam.
IMHO, Tsunami was destined to be the fastest Unlimited ever, even if she didn't have the specific elegance of Strega or a couple others. Sir Hinton broke her in, and Mr. Holm only began to show what she could really do. Bruce Boland with JRS truly created a masterpiece. I think it's appropriate to re-link to this story about Bruce and Tsunami: http://www.warbirdaeropress.com/arti...and/Boland.htm And also to Sharon Sandberg's site about Tsunami and JRS: http://speedpropsandpylons.com/jrs_tsunami.htm

T'was a very sad day indeed.
Nothing can bring back dear Mr. Sandberg to us (our great loss), but I hope one day somebody will try again with the aircraft concept. I assume the plans for Tsunami still exist? (P.S....MRussell, appreciate the links |

I met him in Wendover, for about 5 minutes.
It is ( was) quite appearant why he was so loved, and still spoken of highly, 15 years later. Super nice guy. Very humble. Very smart. He was Superman in his daughters eyes. |
