Look up the Wildfire project. There's lots of info on this site. Looking at the history of really fast Unlimiteds there are only three airframes that seem to populate the tip of the spear (the exception being Tsunami). Mustangs, Bearcat, Sea Furies. A lot of very smart people have spent tons of money and even more time trying to figure out what combination might yield the best results in the very small envelope at Reno. If you really want to innovate you should consider those record setters as your baseline not your goal. You need to stand on the shoulders of giants to win gold at Reno, you're not going to do it with a combination no one has thought of.
