A not so good idea by an Apache pilot http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=3c6_1332299048 luckily no one on the ground was hurt. Those maneuvers probably work better down at a lower altitude in thicker air.

Glad no one was killed. The Soldier at :24 seconds is really lucky!!
Another example of "Hey check this out" turning into something bad. Not only does a Combat Aviation Brigade Commander lose a valuable combat platform, the Soldiers on the ground at that FOB and others in the AOR lost a force multiplier at that moment.
It appeared that the FOB was not under indirect fire or any other form of contact as no one was in pro-gear and they were out in the open as if they were expecting it.
If he gets booted out then that's a couple million dollars in combat helicopter training, down the tubes.
I was just reading about the AH-64 Apaches, and how they are described as being the hardest heli to pilot. I guess once you can fly one of those you feel like you can do anything.
That pilot had been watching too many French air force "stupid tricks" videos. I wonder if that manuver is going to be re-coined the "go to Levenworth".
