  • Planted Memorial Tree Lemmon Valley, NV

When they held the memorial at Idlewild park and planted a Oak tree, I thought, why not do the same in my backyard.

Then the other day Ken and Nancy from Santa Fe, NM posted they planted a tree in memory. That got me moving, went by Home Depot and they still had some large trees on end of season clearance.

Picked out a 12' Little Leaf Linden, grows to 40-50 feet, harding to -40 F.
I will come up with 11 small metal yard art pieces over the winter in memory of all 11, these I will stake around the base of the tree.

I have lived in the back of the valley for 34 years and during the air races I always enjoy when the racers take off on runway 8 and meet up with the pace plane. They most always fly right over my house.

I would assume this tree will grow and looks its best during air race week :-)

    That's awesome!

Nice to hear a long time resident that is pleased to have the planes around every September.

The 11 memorial decorations is a very nice touch too!
