  • Keeping The Peace Missing Posts

Some new members may notice that their posts do not show up. New member applications go into a queue, messages posted are reviewed and if they are not SPAM or otherwise on topic enough to not be of question, the poster and post are approved. The reason for this is to keep SPAMMERS from joining and then posting a ton of buy Viagra or whatever else they sell ads... Admins and moderators DO see their messages and we delete them before you have to.. Unless you guys want those ads...

Also, some posts in some threads were deleted over the past week (and, at times, some posts always will be deleted) the reason for deletions of posts is that the moderators or the admin decide that they are not within acceptable range, given the circumstances.

As for recent deletions... We've pretty much decided that we are not going to allow critique of race pilot's actions during any race incident. Regardless of the experience level of the critic, it's just not fair to allow a one sided critical discussion, probably not based on complete knowledge of a given situation in which any "incident" might take place. Particularly, those that take place at RENO... Most "events" that happen there are completely outside the level of experience of any aviator who has not operated there as a racer, regardless of how many hours you have operating in every other area of aviation, it's just not the same at RENO.

With that said, I'd like to ask everyone once again to think before they hit enter, think about if you would actually walk up to a given pilot involved in something and say to their face what you might be thinking of posting.

Remembering, you do not have any idea of what was going on in the cockpit, also remembering that the given class in which any incident takes place does a lot of debriefing and critiquing within their class with the pilots and officials. I think that's their job, they are the guys and women who are actually out there racing and have the best understanding of what happens and needs to happen. This is why they have Pylon School.

    Thanks for understanding...

Well stated Wayne. Unless you walked a mile in their shoes those thoughts should be kept to themselves. At some level the real cause ,etc will be known but not necessarily to all of us. There is a reason Wayne & company do what they have too to maintain the high level of this site.

..and yet, even a blind pig, finds an acorn once in a while.

Wasn't that what the restricted forum was set up for?

Bob, you are the wisdom of this forum.. if anyone does not recognize this, they are just too young to respect the experience of our elders!

I/we do our level best to keep the clatter here to a dull roar.. if we do not, the real people we'd like to hear from can't get their messages in because of the background noise from those who speak first and listen later....

It sort of was but.. this thread was not posted within that forum, it was out here where we all have to look at it.. Maybe if started there, we'd leave it alone..

Mods and admins alike have gotten some flak for removing posts this year as they have in year's past.. I'll stand on the fact that I hear FAR more positive feedback from people for what we accomplish in trying to keep the peace and keep inner crew discussions within the perspective crew and not allowing just anybody to jump in with both feet and tell a pilot, mechanic... owner.. whomever, how they screwed the pooch or any other avenue that is not properly routed due to circumstances at hand.. r.e.. you weren't there, you don't know exactly what happened, you have an opinion, keep it to yourself....
