Just curious, has anyone tried a 5 bladed prop on one of the Griffon powered Mustangs? like the last Spitefires had?

The Whittingtons had a 5-blade on there H-model one year (early 80's) a la P-51G but she was merlin powered. Don't remember her competing that year.

I think ALL of the folks fielding Griffon powered Mustangs over the years would have loved to try a single prop setup, but simply couldn't. As I understand it, there are no known spares for Griffon single-prop nosecases available, leaving the Shackleton contra-prop setup as the only option. Rolls-Royce actually had to manufacture a single-prop nosecase for use on a newly restored Griffon-powered Spitfire to be used in the commemoration of the Battle of Britain a few years back. Now THAT'S a rare part!

        Rare parts

I saw one of those yesterday, sitting with a two stage blower, and a stack of Griffon parts. but not for sale.
