Re: Lyle has finished his final race

My condolences to us all for the loss of this great man.
    He will be missed.
His infulence on the sport he so dearly loved will last forever as well the memories and stories of this one of a kind human being.

We're all just travellers in this world.

From the sweet grass to the packing house.

    Birth 'till death.

    We travel between the eternities.

I like this passage, it just fits some men.Lyle is one of them.He just travels faster then most folks.

            Be my eyes

            Be my ears

            Be my heart

Fear not, for his legend lives for eternity.

Nothing will ever take away our memories of him rounding pylons and KICKING ASS.

77 will inevitibaly pass from hand to hand, but part of Lyle's heart and soul are in that plane, and no amount of bondo applied or scraped off will ever change that.

                Blue skies Lyle.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Lyle, but after reading Dell's book last year, and reading stories here and on other sites, I truly know we have lost one of the finest people in air racing, a true legend if there ever was one.

His loss will be great, but his memories will live forever. May the blue skies, puffy clouds and smooth air be his to roam the skies of time with speed and wonder

Let us learn that your dreams can be possible, as his were to breaking records and make big fat planes whoop butt on those that thought he couldn't. Dreams are possibilities in the planning stage! His were realties that we will share, enjoy and talk about for decades.

John my deepest condolenses to you and Joyce and the family. Please let me know how i can help. My prayers are with all who grieve this loss

                  Lyle, Fly Fast!

                        John:

Lyle, positively forever affected my life as a result of being on his early crew and knowing him. A phenominal person and aviator. A true racer in every sense, with an extraordinary legacy.

                        Very sincerely,

Here's a fun clip of Lyle and Rare Bear at Pt Mugu air show in 1994 showing off that awesome 3 blader prop. Love the sounds. Lyle, the Bear, and the 3 Blade were a wonderful aggressive match and that's how I will remember him and that thunderous sound they made in the sky.

My air race idol passed away but he will always be the one who flies the Rare Bear each time it turns around the pylons.
I´m so sad. Blue skies Mr. Lyle Shelton.
