  • Website Downtime - Network Attack

Earlier today, the datacenter that our servers live in was the victim of an attack that took down the connectivity for a period of time. The type of attack and those responsible for it are unknown at this time but we are assured that the network engineers are in place to protect the center and all seems back to normal at this time.

Too much time on someone's hands, somewhere!

There is a PS here.. for those of you who have computers on the Internet and do NOT have a firewall active on that machine... ZONE ALARM FREE FIREWALL Particularly, if you are on a broadband connection, your machine can be used in this sort of attack against a datacenter or a particular machine. This is how it works, the attackers "hack" your home machine without your knowledge, place a small program on it that sits there inactive until these attacks begin. Then you become a "soldier" in the battle against the host they are attacking...

PLEASE, in this day and age, ALL computers, whether they be a dialup or a broadband need to be protected by SOME firewall or other.. there are others, we find that the ZONE LABS product works well and we encourage you to use, at least, the free version. We also encourage you to purchase the very inexpensive pro version, support those who are dedicated to Internet security!!

I'm with Wayne on this one ........................ run to the ZoneAlarm web site and download the freebie - it works great!! I've been running it for several years now and wouldn't be without it. Runs on all the Windows platforms and probably others too. It's easy and you can set your preferences plus if you run broadband and are "online" all the time - you can lock it down. That's one of the best features. Here's the link again http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp for the free download. Or do like some of us and step up one to the Pro version, it's all you need.

Like Wayne said, "PLEASE, in this day and age, ALL computers, whether they be a dialup or a broadband need to be protected by SOME firewall or other."

    Cheers!
