    I understand that Steve had a bad indicator light for a gear lock so to be sure...

    Yes he did have a bad indicator. After a go around he landed and then shut it down and rolled to a stop down by where the jets were parked. Even after getting GG pack to the Unlimited pits he came down from the aircraft and after checking it out he said that it was still about a half inch or so from being fully locked.
