Battle of Britain........The first flying scene (just a few minutes into the movie) several 109's make a low level......fence high strafing run on a RAF group of Hurricanes in France. Overall, probably one of the best movies for flying scenes made.

Listen real hard to that scene next time it's on. The original line was "Dallas" not "Vegas", but after the Kennedy assassination they changed it in post production - even to the point of bringing Pickens back into the Studio to record the word "Vegas". You can just tell that it was spliced in.

I'm going with "Empire of the Sun" but not the p-51 strafe.

The scene when the kid first sees the Zero in the air field, kinda of a night time silloutte shot at night with some welding or something going on in the background. Long drawn out sequence of him running his hand over the Zero. I know it is not flying but that scene captures everything that is magic about airplanes. Also references how advanced and feared the Zero was at the time. Speilburg is definatly and airplane lover....

I get goosebumps just thinking about that scene.

Takeoff scene in "Spirit of St. Louis'. I still lurch forward in my seat trying to help Jimmy Stewart get it off the ground.

(For those that haven't seen it, that's the WHOLE movie... which by the way should be labled as a comedy NOT action/drama)

No doubt, the best Hollywood scene of all time was in the movie "The Great Waldo Pepper", when Susan Sarandon fell off the wing of Waldo's JN4 Jenny......(too bad it wasn't for real).......
