I remember seeing the Canberra on NASA's web page a couple of years ago, but I got the impression it hadn't flown in a long time. That's the cool thing about NASA's fleet, though- they keep them maintained in case a project comes up that can use them. IIRC, they still have a Delta Dart on their roster. And of course the oldest (calendar time) and simultaneously newest (airframe hours) B-52 in the world.
This is cool, I found a site that has the complete tracking log for the filght. By looking at the log and at the time the file/image was taken I found this: 04:07PM 3340N/11712W 428 57,000'
So the very first image in the thread is a full frame no crop of a WB-57 at 57,000 feet (10.8 miles up) taken with a 500mm f4 with a 1.4x on a 20D
Holy crap Victor just passed Goss for the geek of the year award! I remember ten years ago talking about spy planes that could take a picture of the tags on your car from 70,000with non-aviation types. People thought I was full of it (I am but not about that). Now we have cameras that you can buy retail that can take one back at the plane. I'm going to stop using Google RIGHT NOW!
