Rocket Racing

There is an interesting article in the latest Popular Science about Rocket Racing. To me, even with the $2 million purse doesn't sound all that exciting or fast. What do you guys think?
Real air racing barely got mentioned.

I think it sounds cool it is funny though how much more the general public knows about rocket racing or the redbull racing than they know about good ole fashioned pylon racing.

I wish these guys would spend their money on a tricked out unlimited. Rocket racing seems to be a short term gimmick, perhaps with less appeal than the Red Bull Races. As long as they can keep showing before new crowds they'll be OK, but it seems to be a one 'n done spectacle that is short duration and far removed from the spectators. Then, what's the practical application of a small rocket? Talk about inefficient! The X-Cor motors are very different from those that powered Spaceship One.
