        I take that back, they just showed a live shot of the Global Flyer, gear down, on it's way in... more to come after the commercials.

                      lol..heading is still 208.8. altitude 1 250 feet.

                      Check the real time video from Salina at lower right side. Branson was explaining suntin, but there was no voice.

                        Thanks for keeping the thread alive you guys.

                        I was watching the streaming video on the internet (NBC News). Did BBC carry the audio on approach? All the airliners under the Denver Center were asking where he was. When they were told he was on 4 mile final they all started congratulating him.

                        The best one was "Fossett, you're a stud"

                        Congrats Steve Fossett, Sir Richard Branson, Burt Rutan and all the guys and gals at Scaled Composites. It's certainly been a good year in Mojave!

                          BBC had full conversation between tower and Steve Fossett coming loud and clear at the final 2-4 mile approach.

                          It was also in the 11 o'clock news on the main channel too ( one hour 10 minutes after the touch down ).

                          First Steve Fossett took the ride with a hot air balloon and now with a jet. What next ? Quite a dude.

                              The 1250ft altitude is probably because it isn't at sea level.
