  • F8F-2 Bearcat sold

Anyone know who just recently purchased the F8F-2 Bearcat that used race number 7 in the 1971 California 1000 race?

The plane was owned by Stanely Krazet from 1969 to 1975 but was raced by Butch Morris at the 1971 California 1000 Air Race in Mojave, California on November 13th. It only completed 35 laps of the 41 lap race with an average speed of 290.95 mph. This was a 1000 Km race which was concluded when the first racer completed the required 41 laps. Each racer then finished the lap he was on and his speed calculated to that lap.

It was purchased by John Gury and registered as N618F from 1967 to 1979 and then in 1979 when it was purchased by Harold Beal and Charles Smith who registered it as N200N. They only owned it for several months before selling the plane to the Whittington Brothers (World Jet Inc.) who owned it from 1979 to 1997.
