looks real enough to me, i knew the argentines built a plane called the pulqui (owl) after the war which was designed by kurt tank from the ta183 huckebein but i didn't think any were actually built exactly to spec.

        Matt,

Did you know that former Rechlin test pilot Behrens died in a accident flying a Pulqui in front of a crowd where was also Juan Peron.

He ( Behrens ) was performing an outside spiral ( spin ? ) and when recovering from it wing hit the runway..he was killed instantly.

I still think that the pic is by one of them luft46.com computer graphics geeks practical jokes.....but still.....it looks very real. Any experts to verify it ?

          Aviators online !

I dedicate that Ta 183 pic to German scientists and aviation engineers:

75 years ago they got airborne with the historys first jetaircraft.

Good luck Burt Rutan in taking the next step...everymans dream to travel in space.

            TA 183 info site:

In late 1942, Focke-Wulf engineer Hans Multhopp headed up a design team that started aerodynamic studies for a new turbojet fighter. This culminated in 1945 as a fighter project known as "Huckebein" (a cartoon raven that traditionally makes trouble for others), also known as Project V (Project VI in some references) or Design II at Focke-Wulf and later to be given the designation Ta 183.

Sorry guys..65 years of the first jetflite may be more correct right ?

This pic of ta 183 is pretty.....speculative at least !

Well I was wrong again !

First jetflite was 27th of August 1939.
The rocket powered He 176 flew 20th june 1939 ( some sources say 15th of June 1939 ).

I went to ask Lutz Warsitz about the matter. His daddy by the way was flying the He-178 jet on that glorious day in 27 of August 1939. His name was Erich.

                later,

Ever saw a pic of an Saab 29 "Tunnan" the BARREL !

I'd say some knowledge from Ta 183 "Huckebein" has also inspired the minds of the swedish aviation engineers.
Just saw a movie of a squadron flying them in the Kingdom of Sweden.
                  Top speed 1060 km/h.
