Does anyone know what variant of the 3350 is in Rare Bear? I can't seem to find this info.

It is a non-standard configuration, built specifically for that plane and later copied for Critical Mass.

As I recall, it was the turbo-compound variant with all the TC gear removed. This engine is the Wright Cyclone R-3350-988TC18EA-2 Turbo-Compound from the 1049 Constellation. There may be a later variant with a slower nose case, as installed in the 1649 Connie, but a quick search this AM didn't yield any quick answers. Anybody? Peas

Close enough. EA-1 is used on the DC-7 and 1049, EA-2 on the 1649. Slower gear on the EA-2.
