Re: Completely Off Topic Air Quality: Maybe a Blessing!

Some really bad numbers this morning around here. 400+ in some spots. Looks to be bad all week. I’m holding on to next weekends wind forecast of easterlies all weekend. I know some people will be out there along with some planes. I’ll be out there at some point.

Re: Completely Off Topic Air Quality: Maybe a Blessing!

Back on August 28th we headed north to Mt Hood and Timberline Lodge enroute to Reno and Lake Tahoe. At Timberline looking south toward Mt Jefferson it was smoky from a fire near Hagg Lake. In the afternoon we headed to Madras past Hagg Lake and encountered dense smoke on the highway. We spent the night in Madras and the next day headed to Crater Lake. This was a Saturday and we waited in a line of cars for a half an hour at the ticket booth going in. The sky at Crater Lake was clear at that time. We spent the night in Klamath falls and headed to Reno on Sunday. We took the Susanville route and it was socked in with smoke. As we headed east it cleared some and when we got to Reno it was socked in like I've never seen it before. We like a high up hotel room looking east and you couldn't see the foot hills to the east. On Tuesday we went up to South Lake Tahoe and it was somewhat clear, but we talked to another couple and they said the day before you couldn't see the east shore line from the west side. On Thursday we headed back to the Willamette Valley in Oregon for a slight reprieve and on the next Monday on Labor Day it kicked into high gear. Most days one couldn't see the tree line more then a half a block away. The Sun was nowhere to be seen. Last Friday/Saturday you could see the Sun, it looked like a red half Dollar in the sky. Today there has been some clearing, but not much. The damage that these fires have caused is incomprehensible. In my mind it is very suspect Climate Change is the reason. Our State Fire Marshal in Oregon Resigned. If one reads between the lines most fires have been arson caused and that message is being censored.

The arson question has been on my mind. Yes, the fires have grown extremely fast but, the extreme speed is more an effect of poorly managed forests. Way too much fuel in there for it not to become ticking time bomb. What sucks is the man made sparks that start these fires. Arson is a big part of that number. This is where I’d like to see some eye for an eye justice. Intentionally start a fire and that’s exactly how your going to die, by fire. No death by smoke inhalation allowed. You will burn and it will hurt and we will make it known to all would be arsonists that this is now the penalty.

No kidding, just look at the 4 they arrested for starting fires in Washington, Oregon and California last week.

They do not look like they contribute anything to society rather just sponge off the hardworking tax payers.

I was supposed to go take care of some personal business in Carson City about 3 weeks ago and I've been waiting for some clear days, but that doesn't seem to be happening soon.

And I really need to go...

They arrested a guy in Oregon for starting a brush fire with a Molatov Cocktail & after his release(?) he started six more & was then rearrested. Crazy world.

With the current mob mentality and atmosphere of "guilty before proven innocent so let's destroy a city" maybe just hand him over to the homeowners that have lost everything including loved ones and turn our backs.

I have to share a story.

Back during the Reagan administration, I worked in what was known as "central east side industrial area" which is directly across the river from downtown Portland, Oregon.

When the President defunded the state hospital system, you know, the place where society used to send those so hopelessly mentally f****d up that they could not exist without help. We started getting what I call the original homeless, who were, in fact, the former residents of the state hospital, who had simply been let into the streets to fend for themselves. Trust me, the ones I encountered did not have the ability to do so!

One stand out experience, actually my first experience with them, we had a nut case sleeping and peeing in one of our trucks that at that time, were parked on the street in front of the business. After several days attempting to block him and deal with him, and he was so helpless that when you would try to talk to him, he would go blank face and start turning half circles, back and forth right, the left.

I called the police, they came and one of the cops initially said they had no policy to do anything with the new releases who were flooding into Portland daily.. A few moments later, he came back to me, his face was completely ashen! He told me that he had gone to high school with the guy, he had actually been their class president! He told me that he was making an exception to their instructions to do nothing (what to hell were they going to do with him... the hospital system had been and is still closed) he would find help for him..

My point is this.. well, do I need to say more?

Many of these people on the street are completely legally INSANE and there is no system in our current society to do anything with them other than let them live in squalor on the streets of our cities.. Some of them are complete leaches who just are to frickin' lazy to do anything so they don't do anything, some are completely wrecked by addiction to Meth or other crap..

My point being I guess, I don't want to live in a society where we have burnings, lynching's mob justice...

This is THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA for Christs sake!

We have people who work in the White House who are promoting armed insurrection should the incumbent lose the election and refuse to leave office...

                          Keep it real folks!

I WILL delete ANY post that recommends any such action... I believe we are headed to the most challenging time in our history.. I will not allow this site to sink into the ****hole!

Neither do I Wayne. It seems right now we are headed there for a time. Scares me that this is accepted by so many and while I don't agree with how a FEW police are behaving I definitely do not agree with the reaction.
I was being a little facetious. No attempt to offend.

I get it Leo, I'm human and frustrated with the BS that's going on in the streets right now! Usually in situations like this, there would be a calming voice wafting over the land telling us that things will be better, we ARE better than this, we WILL become better humans and continue this experiment in self-rule...

I am truly trying to keep this site non-political...

My post, however feebly it attempted to be non-political, as well as this one, are going to be taken as quite political....

God, I hope I have not opened the door!
