  • USS Essex and warbirds

Just read online that 14 warbirds including a Mustang, Wildcat and B-25 are being shipped over to Pearl Harbor onboard the USS Essex to take part in the V-J commemoration. The article did not specify who the aircraft belonged to or who the pilots and crews were.

Aircraft pilots and crews have to be quarantined for two weeks before they will be allowed on the ship. That's taking a chunk of time out of peoples lives. Better safe than sorry.

Got to see a little bit of arrivals here in SD. The CAF actually only owns one of the planes on the ship being the Wildcat. John O’ Connor owns the Bearcat and his new PBY, a private group owns the other PBY, the Mustang is Lady Alice owned by Dr. Wagner, I believe all the T-6’s, T-28, and Stearman are private, the TBM is actually a new one to be seen flying around which is one of the recent sales from the Connie Edwards collection along with the PBY that John O’ Connor owns but I’m not sure who owns that TBM, and the B-25 is Old Glory owned by David Prescott all the way from her new home in New York! I think that’s all 14...

Taigh Ramey was scheduled to have the Stockton Museum PV-2 Harpoon on board, but they blew an engine on the way and the Harpoon is now parked at Chino for an engine change. All the planes except the big twins and some SNJ's are stored below deck.
Taigh is still on the cruise, here are some photo's from his FB page.

The TBM is reportedly an air racer from the California 1000 at Brown Field, San Diego.

                      Wow,

Watch the video. seeing 2 B25s take off the deck of the Nimitz is something special.

A big thank you to the US Navy and all the aircraft owners for making this happen.

                            Lon,

Thank you so much for sharing this photo. Sure means a lot to me seeing that image.

You can see the shadow of the B25, the USS Missouri and the sunken USS Arizona.

It has been 79 years since she was sunk and interned 1102 sailers and marines.

Just wonderful how we never forget and pay our respect to them.

Thats one reason I fly my flag daily to thank all who served our great country.

I'm having email problems, is everything OK with the board??

                              Title says it all..

Frappin' server is still giving me headaches, though, I have an outside email filter system that I use that could be causing the problem....Click image for larger version
