  • Favorite RENO RAMP FOOD

OK, I'm already firm in my choice.... I'll hold onto it for now but... OK, I can't hold it..

There is some really good ramp food at RENO, I make it a ritual to tour the offerings annually but, since this is not a food site, I mostly only look and smell …

Except, I will admit to favoring any sandwich that has its origin in an east coast town that rhymes with Dilly

Don't think it was there last year....

    OK..

What's your favorite RENO ramp food???

No fair counting some of the creations that are smuggled into the box seats!

        Milk and Cheerios.

This new Reno Air Race fan generation in training says Cheerios and Milk.

For me it's a tie between the Teriyaki Bowl and the Pulled Pork Parfait. I've duplicated both in my own kitchen, but they taste better when you're standing in the sun watching a guy wrench on a rare and complicated engine.

Since the first time we made the trip to Reno, I've always been amazed at the quality and variety of the concessions at the races. (Expensive but worth it) At your typical Midwestern air show the lunch options tend to be a bland hamburger, hot dog, or chicken fingers (Also expensive but not worth it)

Wayne, I like where you're going with this thread. There are many facets to the NCAR experience... Memories unrelated to the competition that stick with you.

Beer is a food group unto itself!

Have to say the breakfast sandwiches that used be served at the red trailer near the old Sport hangar were a welcome thing at O'dark :30. Given my various roles I didn't get to sample the ramp food much after that..either out at Home Pylon or in the Tower. That said, this year I hope to make it a point to get out of the Tower more and sample the fare (but not the beer...at least not until 1700!). Seems we're fotunate to have some pretty good concessions.

And I agree entirely about the memories that flood back...the non-racing, non-airplane memories. Food, friendships, and all the rest. No matter what happens each of us will always have those...

                    The pizza vendor rocks.

And it helps when Section 3 "Dan Da Man" works there.

The corn dog vendor down by the jet pits...they're fantastic for breakfast! We pulled Kevin's "Dog Card" after this: nobody puts ketchup on a corn dog!!

I think that same vendor had fried cheese on a stick last year

Those corn dogs are the chit. Probably my favorite. However, I’ve been known to tear up a Homewrecker dog or two along with a bigass Sweet Tea.
