  • Any engine builders ever consider the Chinese radials.

The dongan/harbin HS-8 is rated at 1850hp in stock form but I'm not sure of availability or even durability at Reno horsepower levels.

    Has any builder considered them?

Are they readily available, as well as a huge supply of parts?
And if the materials they are made of is similar to some of the auto parts we have received from them, maybe it would be a bad idea to use them.

The HS8 is a license built version of the Shvetsov ASH82 of which 70,000 were built.

The HS8 was built until 1980.

An ever increasing number of radial FW190s built or rebuilt are using them.

They are of smaller diameter, have a shorter stroke, and weigh less than a 3350.
