  • I've been pretty quiet..

I've been sort of unresponsive to a lot of messages and not participating as much as I'd like to here..

Reason: Bad knee, extreme pain! I've got a bone on bone knee that has left me digging daily for the strength to just get up and piss.... frankly.. not pissing my pants, yet.. surgery to replace knee is 18 March... Cancer got me addicted to opiate pain meds, a very difficult, painful withdrawal in 04-05 not wanting to be repeated by me! So, I gotta just suffer through it.

Long story short, I'll be on here as much as possible over the next three months but I've got an energetic rehab program (for the knee) coming up that might leave me distracted from the site.

Oh brother, I feel your pain. I know several people that have gone through knee replacement and they were very happy with the results. Take care and get well soon.

          Damn...that sucks, Wayne.

May not be applicable in your pending replacement but I've found an injection of "Synvisc One" provides substantially more relief from bone on bone knee pain that anything I've ever tried. After 10+ years as an NCAA Basketball official, the hardword kicked my arse!

You can find it from a UK pharmacy and have it shipped directly to your home as long as you have a prescription from your Dr. DON"T buy it in the US. Last I check a single injection in the US was somewhere between $1500-$2000. If you go through the UK online pharmacy, it's less than $500 and right now thru 25May it's about $350 with the code ("Check30"). Super easy.

Had meniscus surgery in Oct 17 on L knee. While I was under, had surgeon inject Synvisc in R knee (bone on bone there). Just reordered it. Lasted about 18 months. A LOT longer that the cortesone crap.

Here's the link to the pharmacy: https://www.medixpharmacy.co.uk/
          Here's more about Synvisc: https://www.synviscone.com/

          Good luck!

I'm with ya Wayne! Hang tight brother!

College football was not kind to my left knee; 2 ACL/MCL rebuilds, one clean up, and they took out what little of my meniscus I had left this past July. I'm only 39!

I have heard of the injections listed above but I'm not there yet. Cortisone and drain about once a month and I'm good to go!

Doc says I need to make this last as long as possible cause my next surgery will be a replacement!

              You got this!

Wow, do they do the cortisone monthly?? They will only do me about two or three times a year! And, it only works for about two months.... Yes at your age, you don't want to get knee replacement because it will likely not last your lifetime and you'll have to do it again... I'm 67 and pretty well within the age range to not outlast the knee

I'm looking into the shot that that AB mentioned, I'd heard about it but the $$$ to get it stood in the way. IF my insurance will cover any of it, I'm game! Absolutely nuts that the most developed country in the world, you have to go to Europe to get decent prices to be healthy! I'd better stop before I launch into my rant about the health care insurance system in this country$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yep, once a month but sometimes, based on my activity level, I can stretch it to every other month.

Someday I will realize the damage I've done to my body and back-off a bit...someday, lol!!!

                    Re: I've been pretty quiet..

I drank the chiropractor koolaid a couple years ago. It seemed sketchy at first but the results between my before/after xrays speak for themselves.
Most people don’t realize the importance of the knees in helping us walk, run, or even stand. Of course, once they injure their knees, they become all too aware of just the amount of load the knee is expected to bear.

                      Re: I've been pretty quiet..

As of this moment, I'm pretty sure I'm going to cancel the surgery and, at least, get a cortisone injection while I formulate finding a doctor who will do what Air Boss's did for him with the England pharmacy... I've got a call into my knee specialist to see if he will do it.. I'm hoping he will. I'd MUCH rather spend the $$ and NOT have a part of my body cut off and replaced with metal and plastic!

I had a severe left knee problem, but it eased up later...a bit by bit. It is a horrifying pain...caused by the golf playing in cold weather.

                        Speedy recovery Wayne !
