  • The Marines Came to The Valley

I spent the long weekend at the 69th annual Death Valley 49er Encampment.

Leading Fridays wagon train arrival were the Marines on horseback flying the colors.

For the last few days the Marines and Navy have been doing maneuvers in Stead and in Reno preparing for deployment. LOTS of Osprey activity, especially at night, rattles the windows. Blackhawks, Chinooks, pretty cool. Locals all up in arms about the noise and the perceived "danger". Don't know what they are bitching about, I just hear the sound of freedom.
Last night watched what had to be a tanker way up to the southwest as little red flashing lights kept chasing it around its oval track. It was around for a good 45 minutes.
