Default Engine change for Full Noise 09/12/17

    Hey all,
The new Yancey race engine for everyone's favourite Yak is giving the Full Noise team some strife so they're swapping it out:

Are his own guys wrenching for him? I'll be there Friday and sure hope "FN" is in the show.

Sounds like a thrash! I hope they can get it back together in time for qualifying. Awesome that they are bringing some international flair to the Unlimited class this year!

I know a few of the crew, including a husband and wife who fly warbirds and classics at the aircraft's home base (the husband is also rides pilot for the Yak), an airline captain who plays with big British radials in his spare time, and there are folks from the restorers JEM Aviation too. A really enthusiastic bunch of folks!

So it looks like they are using what was a display engine?

I don't know, I'm afraid - for a while (including the Classic Fighters Omaka airshow this past Easter) she's flown with an engine owned by another local syndicate, intended for a Yak-9V project based on one of the ex-Egyptian Yak-11s. I'm not sure if this is the same engine but I seem to remember the commentators at the show talking about how Graeme was using the -9V's engine while his own was getting serviced...
