  • Planes of Fame Airshow 2017 Photos & Videos

It was my first year attending, traveled all the way from Wisconsin...

I cannot emphasize this enough; it was so, so,so worth every penny I spent getting there!!

Hope you don't mind me sharing some photos. I appologize ahead of time if they aren't resized, I'm going to link them from Facebook to start with since I don't have a Flickr Album up yet.

Actually I'll start with this video! For those who haven't heard yet; Jason Somes flew the crap out of the SoCal Spit, definitely one of the top highlights of the weekend! Also the colder air made the Griffon sound so mean!!

Ever see one of these fly like a fighter?

More later if you all would like that!

Thanks SpinB, Reever, Supercub and Dawg!!

Here's what I got done last night/this morning.

I had a sunrise photo pass for Saturday. The sun didn't peak through, but I'd still say it was absolutely worth it!

This is a 5-frame stitch taken with a telephoto lens -same as I did at Reno last year.

Going for the "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" look

Wonderful shots Connor, please keep them coming!

Man, I miss the POF show. Went every year when I lived in LA in the '90's, and been back a few times since. The thing I love most about Chino is that you simply see MORE of most any of the WWII allied fighters than at other shows, and they all are usually up in the air at some point during the show.
Not sure if they still do this, but years ago at the end of the show they would put everything in the air and do a mass flyover for the crowd. Impressive to say the least... 😳

Awesome pictures! I love the line of noses. How many of the Corsairs were Baa Baa Black Sheep planes?

Thank you! Planes of Fame's Corsair was the only one there that was used in Baa Baa Black Sheep. Unless you mean which ones were in the markings of that Squadron? I don't think any of them are in that case.

Real good article I just saw about where all the Corsairs are now and the pilots. Great comments from Steve Hinton.
Forty years ago to the day, on September 23rd, 1976, the famed TV-series Baa Baa Black Sheep first aired on television in the United States

                        Thank you, Mark!!

I totally agree, the variety that was there cannot be matched anywhere else. And then they fly the heck out of them too!!
They did not do a mass flight this year. Totally okay with me, I'm not sure I could have handled that haha.

Thanks GP! Yeah for me it's between the F7F, P-51A & B, F4U, F-86, Spitfire and AT-12. Basically I like them all haha!
