Best thing I've read for ah-wile!

Maybe it will turn up on ebay someday ...

Re: What's Your Favorite Air Race Artifact? -- G-meter from Super Corsair

While I do have most of Dave Mueller's race prints and all of Denver Kissinger's race prints, and John Shaw's masterpiece, The Unlimiteds, a total of 15 or so, I do not consider these to be race artifacts. My inference is that a race artifact is something from one of the race planes. in that respect I have the accelerometer face plate from the Super Corsair. I was there when it went in; a sad day. To this day I still miss seeing that plane grace the pylons.

                John,
Maybe I made the title a little bit misleading. There is no need to limit yourself to just one artifact and story.

I'll post a favorite artifact from Lyle that we found on a little treasure hunt a couple months ago.....and it's even a Sea Fury thing.

                    My favorites.
One signed in person by Lyle Shelton and the other by Lyle Shelton, John Penny and some of the Rarebear Crew people.
                    They all were so kind.
Both pictures are hanging in my living room. Precious pieces of unlimited air racing for me.
                    Sorry for the bad photos.

                        THAT is exceptionally cool!

Priceless history! Saw it from a distance, wimped out on wanting to pedal back up the hill to get home after... 1964, probably a mile away, I'll have to look at the map one day to try to locate where my buddy and I were that day...

                        Kicking myself again!

Thanks Wayne. It was a direct find from the SkyRanch original location thread over on the WAP site. That really turned into a great thread. I wish we could link to it here. It solved the mystery I found but only because of Gary Williams' help. Actually, it was truly a team effort. I was just lucky enough to be the owner of the boots on the ground.
