  • Precious Metal update

    Dear Precious Metal fans,

After many months of exploring possibilities and evaluating the salvage of Precious Metal, we have decided to retain what’s left of the aircraft and begin the rebuild process!

We have settled with the insurance company. As always, US Specialty Insurance Company and our sponsor Ladd Gardner Aviation Insurance Agency, have both been great to work with, and they have been very fair in their evaluation. We highly recommend you utilize their services when you shop for aircraft insurance of any kind.

We’ve received multiple estimates of the rebuild and have numerous opportunities as to which way to go with the project. Initially, we’ll start the disassembly in house as we have yet to decide where to send the pieces and parts for overhaul. The damage is extensive and even though everything can be rebuilt, we may need to acquire another airframe to expedite the rebuild process. We don’t have the complete budget for the project, but we can start and see where it takes us. Every journey starts with the first step and that first step is to commit to making the airplane fly again, which we have now done. Things will fall in to place as we make progress and updates will be plentiful.

    Thanks for your continued support,

    Thom Richard

This is great news. I can't wait to see where you guys go with this. There are so many possibilities with directions to take in the rebuild. I hope you guys can find things that pay off the way the prop blades did.

This is exciting stuff. Thanks for posting.

Hey Thom, you know AAFO and Allen's Hood to Coast Pool & Spa are your "forever friends!" I'm thinking a NASCAR east coast tour, with time spent with you guys washing parts!

Thank you for making the sacrifice to continue!

Thom, what do you mean with "another airframe"? Only the fuselage or the whole airframe??
You know there´s a lot of fans waiting to see you both in the race track.
Best of the best for you and your team.

We'll see. There's a lot of damage. Lots of major structural components, as well as smaller things are destroyed. It may be more feasible to incorporate another project. Time will tell. We'll start the disassembly process this coming weekend.

Thom can definitely answer more in depth but put simply no, what they thought caused it turned out to be incorrect so they have no solid evidence what caused the fire
