That is awesome! Brings to mind, where are they now? The P-40 at 1:22 with the racing canopy? Any knowledge on this aircraft? Oh for a time machine.

Great Video, thanks for sharing. What happened to the ME 262 ? There's some pretty rare planes there.

The Me-262 is now owned by Paul Allen and is being restored to fly with the original Jumo engines. I think this Me-262 was at one point owned by Howard Hughes who wanted to race it at Cleveland against the Army's P-80s.

I made that quite a few years ago...forgot it was on Vimeo.

The P-40 racer was rebuilt by Frank Sanders for Sue Parrish.

I can't recall the make and model airplane that was used in the final moments of the original movie "The Flight of the Phoenix" after Paul Mantz was killed. There's two of them shown in the video. Were either one of them used in the movie? Thanks

Was Sue Parrish the woman that flew into a Shafter,CA Airshow in a P40 that was painted Pink?

Their O-47 was modified to finish the filming. It was later restored to all it's glory but was lost after a belly landing when it caught fire and burned out.
I remember being there in the early 70's ('74 I think) and the yard around the museum looked like a scrapyard, so many aircraft sitting outside, badly weathered and missing parts. It is amazing how far they have come.
At that time there were still a bunch of Catch-22 B-25's on the field and the Aero Sport hanger hosted Miss Candace, Miss Suzy Q, Stump Jumper among others.

The Pink P-40 hangs in the lobby of the Kalamazoo AirZoo, at least it was there that last time I was there a couple of years ago.

When receiving negative comments on her choice of pink to paint the P-40, Parrish always maintained that it was a color very close to what the brown camo weathered to in the African desert.

I only had a limited amount of color film at Oshkosh that year. Wasn't about to spend it on a "Pink-40."
