Agreed. Three strikes - you're out. Sucks for the pilot, but this kinda thing rarely ends well and isn't the sort of thing that air racing needs.

The pilot was involved in the midair. The airplane he brought to race this year was not the same air frame. The one involved in the midair was very much a total loss.

I heard he jumped the start, didn't see it. I don't think he flew during the remainder of the races after he was black flagged, so don't know if he was black flagged for just that race or the entire races.

I overhead the radio calls; he was asked to stay in line and when he didn't, jet-pace called "Triple 7, up and out." With that, he was removed from the heat.
