That video is really kewl. First off, love the musice....but seeing that girl in that condition brings back memories when I was a teenager back in the 60's. Was not uncommon to see warbirds sitting at various airport with flat tires, covered in dust etc etc. I remember one day, a buddy and I jumped in an airplane.........our goal was to fly from airport to airport and see how many warbirds we could find. I remember there was a P-51 tied down with flat tires at Sacramento Exec............and a P-38 at San Jose, that I believe was used for mapping purposes. There was also a T-6 and a P-51 at Oakland that belonged to a flying cub. I don't think there's any P-51 flying clubs one can belong to anymore LOL.

I know "Joe Blow" is not going to buy it, but the video is made for "Joe Blow" type people. No facts, just artsy video about an auction Mustang.

I would have preferred to see a person with a lot of experience walk around the plane and parts and point out what he/she sees.

With that said, watch the winning bidder be a "Joe Blow" type guy.

I just spoke to the auction company regarding the Mustang and he said no log books, no maintenance records and that the bids will be available for online viewing.

Here is a thread on the auction Mustang from another website. They say it's up to $368,000. I cannot figure out how to see the bids. Can somebody post a link on the bids if they find it? Navigating the website is impossible.

What do you think of the restoration future of this Mustang will be? Will it be taken apart, put on a truck and taken to the place of restoration? How many places are there in the US that can do this kind of work?

How about taking bets on what the final auction price will be excluding the 15% buyers premium? Opening bid was $155,000.

Based on the fact that you can buy a restored Mustang for 2 million dollars, I'll bet it sells for $440,000, which would be around 25% of a restored version when you add the 15% buyers premium fee of $66,000 = $506,000.

$851,000 is the winning bid by BHI if the auction ended at 11.17am PST.

From 7am until 11:17am, the final 3 hours 17 minutes, the bidding went from $401,000 to $851,000, an increase in $450,000. That's an increase of $2,284 dollars per minute. In the last 17 minutes of overtime, the bids went from $609,860 to $851,000, an increase of $241,140. That's an increase of $14,184 dollars per minute. Ouch.

I wonder how the 17 minute overtime occurred? Maybe the high bidders were on the phone and continuing the bidding?

When you add the 15% buyers premium of $127,650 plus the selling price of $851,000 = $978,650. I assume you have CA sales tax of 10% = $85,100 and DMV transfer fees of...? The final price is around $1,100,000. Ouch.

Now the hard work begins.
