  • Formula 1 O-200 engine

Does anyone know of any O-200 race motors for sale? Any condition considered. No need for accessories.

Perhaps something sitting bolted to an airplane in a museum that can be replaced with a static unit.

Yes. The mixmaster in the nose and four of the full race 0-200's mounted on the wings of PM should get you all the power you could ever want.

Although, I suspect Thom has other, completely "off topic" needs for the engine.... can't help but let the mind wander to a separate power plant to support the blower.. Stranger things happened in boat racing... Speedy???

Such a thing was done in the Sport Class, too. If I recall correctly, Will Matthews had an two stroke engine driving a turbocharger on his White Lightning N25WL, Race #43.

Lol! that would be impressive. Our Griffon blower (depending on power output) consumes 1,000-1,500 Horsepower around the course... We could do vertical takeoffs with that kind of O-200! No, it's obviously for a Formula 1 racer.

What about a ready-to-race F-1, with Cote engine?

Well, we already have an airframe, don't need another one. A Cote engine would be cool though!

Not to drag this thread to far off topic, but what RPM are the F1 guys turning compared to a stock O-200?

                  Hello,
Perhaps it's time for a "Night at the Museum" so to speak.......When we were retiring the F1 Nemesis, we had many discussions with with "Motor Motor" Jack Wells about what to do with the little engine that represented 1000's of hours of Jack and Don Sanford's time. Jack said.....There are 2 choices, 1)Drop it in the ocean, 2) Just let it go with the plane. There was No splash sound heard around Laguna Beach. So it's sitting quietly in D.C. Funny how when we signed the plane over to the NASM, while at Oshkosh, we had our spare engine right there ready to bolt on. Jacks wishes were supreme! It's all about loyalty to those who brung ya.

Thom, we wish you all the best in F1 and all the others! Thom's reentry into F1 ought to shake the crew a bit....Class act, GREAT Pilot, GREAT equipment!

Just back from DC. It was tricky to get past the guards and stuff another lookalike motor in there in time before getting busted. New rings and honing, we should be in business!

                    We're gonna go fast!

                    Thanks Jon!

                        Wayne,

On that note, if you can't beat them, join them. You need to start a FB page that refers back to AAFO posts on a daily basis. I guarantee your traffic would increase significantly. Make about a dozen people that you trust contributors. It'll take right off.

Good luck and keep up the good work!
