Very interesting couple of sentences under the Frank Taylor section.

"Now, Dago Red has come home. “Finest Vintage Racing,” under the direction of Frank Taylor, has begun a complete restoration of the aircraft, and is pleased to announce our intention to capture the 3km Speed Record and return to Reno."

That's because it is taken directly from here....which is 5 years old....before the bank repossessed it because the Costo's didn't pay.

Well, that's a bit deceptive. Let's move on to the what on earth is the "Carbon P-51 Race Series" question?

Never heard of the project.......... Closest was Danny Mortensen's project from 20ish years ago.

Frank Taylor had Dago 3D scanned with lasers before they completely stripped the airframe. I wonder if someone has grand dreams of trying to build a composite airframe to those specs? Probably a zero percent chance of it ever happening.

Thought a composite Mustang had already been built, but then was ruled to be too light to be allowed to compete in Unlimited class.....?

The TF canopy leaves extra room for the lasers to have a 180 degree rotating view.

                      Funny stuff there guys..

And while my post isn't meant to be disrespectful in any way, I should think the ball is in their court. There's nothing less than some outlandish statements on their website.

Wasn't an outfit at the Santa Paula,CA airport going to make composite P51s years ago?

                              So the website says
This full size airplane can also accommodate Rolls, Merlin or Allison engines.
Then how about one of the "small" Griffon engines like Miss Ashley II had? That should bump this plane into the weight requirement and give plenty of power. And it already uses contra-rotating props.

ed; and I'm still "scratching my head" trying to find a price mentioned.
