I don't agree that we've seen all of Rare Bear's speed. Why run the risk of ruining an engine on Saturday...?

And I think we may see a bit more from Czech Mate, too.

And I think we may see a bit more from Czech Mate, too.

It's also a possibility that we may have not seen just all of the Bear's issues just yet.
No one would love to see them blast past the Mustangs more than me.
Hoping for the Mustangs to melt down is an old strategy, it works sometimes, but winning that way is kinda like kissing your sister...
If you look up the past wins with the Bear, the speeds are usually pretty low, which usually means everyone else was sickly under the hood.
The Bear is probably a good ton heavier than the Mustangs, which hurts speeds around the pylons at Reno because of the G loads. The straight-line record run is not such a big deal as far as the weight is concerned.
Not trying to downplay any past wins the Bear has, just throwing out some fodder for discussion. After all, a win is a win.
Really made me sick to see Tiger DQ'd for flying too high. As if they don't have enough to deal with out there.

My dad took my mom to her first air race in 85. She told him that the super corsair would win, he said no way. Dreadnought cut a pylon someone else blew. And #1 won. This year is my wife's first year. She said that precious metal would win! With that being said I'm going with:
#38 will get past the bear. 476
#77 good fought battle. 475
#86 close third 474
#8 435
#71 426
# 114 390
#5 will be winning for 4 laps with speeds in the high 490s. Mayday safe on the ground.
