  • Let's Get Started - Stead Ramp & Surprise

Cruised by Stead today, Betty Jane still here, looks like some service work. And cruised by the old Bear cave, doors open and the Bear is here??

Did he stay here after 2013 races??

Haven't heard squat since September and he's right in my back yard, dam, I need to get out more.

Only 3 months to go until!

Take a another look at your photo. (I took a similar photo when I was out at Stead on Thursday). Did you see what is behind the Bear? Shock Wave! Looks like she has a engine mounted as well. I did not know they had made so much progress.

I am out at Stead almost every weekend and as far as I can tell the Bear has been there since September.

Looks like the blue tool might still supporting the engine in position in front of the airframe, same as the past few years.

Pretty sure that's the former Cornell/Jackson racer project "American Spirit".

The Bear was left in Stead after the races last year. Engine was shipped out for a rebuild. The American Spirit project has been untouched since the old Bear crew departed.

Do you know who is handling the rebuild?

I also missed that, sorry. What a technical wonder that engine is. just impressive as to how they work, let alone the skill and patients you need to rebuilt one.
