2nd Race in Reno

I know Lyle and company tried expanding the unlimited racing series outside of Reno. Has anyone ever considered adding a second race in Reno? Indy just ran the road course and now will run the 500 on the traditional oval. A second race would generate more revenue from the one venue and create a series and an overall champion making it more attractive to television and sponsors. Could this be the long term solution to a self sustaining racing venue?

I think the problem, particularly in today's economy, is Reno does not have a big enough local population to support a race, and most visitors do not have either the time or the means to travel to Reno twice per year. Wish it were a question of adding capacity because too many people showed up for the one event, but the facts are there are plenty of unsold box and bleacher seats now.

Get creative. Make the race congruent with the exixting event and ad value.
