With rumors that Tesla is going to build their gigafactory near Reno, perhaps they should sponsor the electric class

Do we have any specs for the Electroflight plane. ie What range and duration it would have at these sort of speeds 260knots (~300mph).

It seems that we are able to have an entertaining race with these type of aircraft. I suggest starting the race from the ground so as not to give an advantage to those who start last and thus save their batteries.

I wouldn't think there would be anything wrong with introducing a new class at Reno. It's still racing, right?! We've entertained new classes at Reno for years anyway. Heck, give 'em a chance! I would never want to replace the Unlimited Class (love the sound too!), however, I, for one, would like to see the advancement of electrics at the place I love the most.

My R/C club has been racing an electric Reno class for years, and it is pretty cool. Even a practice race brings out an audience.

You have to admit it, electrics are here to stay wether you want them or not. Over time, they will only get better in every aspect and they will, at some point, replace fossil fueled engines as the worldwide power choice. Might as well let them in now and BE part of their advancement. No hate intended, just an educated opinion…

This is a great conversation. Maybe the sport class guys could use some of the new technology that the F1 race car class had to develop for the 2014 season! Imagine a 116hp electric boost to overtake someone!

With Williams helping with the development of the Electro-flight aircraft , we might see other F1 teams join in. Red Bull are an obvious candidate.
Could we see a World Electric Aircraft Championships with races held maybe alongside the F1 car races.

I would be happy to see some timed runs round the Unlimiteds course at Reno each year so we can watch the technology progress.
